Collection: Agate

Agate takes its name from the Achates River, now called Dirillo, in Sicily. As early as ancient times, the Celts, Mesopotamians, and Egyptians used this stone for its virtues and beauty. Considered a good luck charm for farmers, it was believed to improve harvests when worn or attached to a plow. Between 2500 and 1500 BC, the Greeks and Romans prized it for making jewelry and vases, due to its diversity of shapes and colors.
